Trump Will Speak at Hastily-Called Gathering of Top Generals. Here's What We Know

President Donald Trump will speak at a rare meeting of top generals called by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for Tuesday, according to the Associated Press.

Hegseth summoned hundreds of generals and admirals with little notice from around the world for the gathering at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, this week, causing alarm in the ranks.

It is not unusual for top military leaders to hold meetings, but experts have described the hastily-called gathering of all generals from around the world as almost unprecedented. Trump's attendance makes the event even more out of the ordinary.

I think I see where this is going.

I've got news for them. If it were specific to national security, sure, but if it is self-serving or expands Posse Comitatus or similar illegal orders to come, no way. It will leak.

The Pentagon on Friday said reporters who cover the agency could access the building only if they agreed not to publish certain information, an unprecedented move that demands media outlets hand the department vast control over what they publish.

The move follows a pattern of increasingly restricted access to the country’s largest federal agency under Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who has a tense relationship with much of the press. The new rules give the Pentagon wide latitude to label journalists as security threats and revoke passes for those who obtain or publish information the agency says is unfit for public release.

If the press were allowed to hear everything (as they should) that goes on in this unprecedented meeting, then there would be no reason to leak, right? These generals and others are from all over the world. That lends an unbelievably near infinite means for a leak to get out there.

after the July 20th, 1944 assassination attempt. Hitler also required the Wehrmacht to change their salute from the one common to militaries around the world, touching the brim of the cap with the right hand, to the straight-arm salute of the Nazi Party.

let alone carrying it out.

Not just because most officers in the U.S. Armed Forces take their oaths to the Constitution seriously. But also, when the correction happens, they would be court-martialed, and lose rank, pay, and retirement at best, probably do jail time, and possibly even face execution for treason.
