The Mexicans next door won't let their 2 year old out of the house

So I was sitting out on my front porch and I guess the grandpa of the people Nextdoor, showed up with a four or five year old and he was skateboarding on the street, so the two year old , inside the house next door, was trying to skateboard and they grabbed him up and put him back up in the house. Some weird stuff. Will not let him out of the house . They are terrified. They are Hispanic

whether outside or inside the house.... it is too dangerous!

Myself, I'm too old to try it, I would kill myself in the first 60 seconds....

But yes, they have plenty of reasons to be "locking down" inside their home

On Sundays they typically played music and did things outside, and the husband worked on his sports car. Yesterday was the first time he'd done that in a long while.

I worry about them being caught up in this mess. They're nice people, work hard, raise good kids, have a great big dog that we all love. Better neighbors than the original ones who put the house there. Those white folks were loud, fought a lot, and left their baby diapers on the back porch so my dog was tempted to get them. They had an old truck where they collected their garbage for weeks before they took it off.

What would that have to do with their behavior regarding a child? I don't get it. Can you elaborate?

I have 3 nieces who are half Mexican. Brown hair, brown eyes. 2 of the have a Mexican sounding last name. Both parents and all grandparents born here and citizens. Not a Spanish speaking person in the extended family. But they are scared, all 3 have started carrying copies of their birth certificates with them everywhere. The family trip to Cancun in the Spring has been cancelled, they don't trust that they'd be able to re-enter the country safely.
