Kids Are Dying from the Flu In Record Numbers - Daily Beast via MSNThere were 280 child flu deaths in the U.S. last year, the highest number aside from 2009-10, during the H1N1 pandemic. The rates of children being vaccinated against influenza have also fallen.
Influenza-associated encephalopathy (IAE) is a rare, severe neurologic complication of influenza. It can lead to varying degrees of brain dysfunction. The new report says that 84 percent of children with IAE whose vaccination status was known were not vaccinated.

(15,600 posts)1. Vaccination numbers are down because "can't trust them", according to the Government. If your kid is strong, no need to worry, according to Oz and RFK Jr...
2. Parents are losing insurance coverage, or they've had to downgrade their insurance, so they're waiting longer to take the kid to a clinic or waiting it out at home because "it's just a cold, not something serious" - until it is and the fever spikes so high it either kills the kid or causes organ damage.

If you're in control of all three branches of government and all of its agencies, then when shit happens, it's on you.
I understand that the anti-vaxxer movement predates MAGA and has historical, cultural, and international roots.
But I think for purposes of the article, specifically the cited rise in deaths and corresponding decrease in immunizations,
one cannot (correction, should not, I think) minimize the degree to which the right, in making public health yet another frkn 'culture war,'
has influenced vaccine decision making, and apparently for the WORSE.
