Maybe it's time to attach strings to the subsidization of red states, like critical reasoning taught in all grades, more civics classes, and higher pay for better-credentialed teachers -- not out of largesse but to protect the rest of us.

(38,824 posts)Once the money is paid in taxes, the federal government chooses how to spend it. You see how well that is going. (And since individuals pay the taxes, just now paying the taxes is not a strategy that many radiates are willing to implement . . . See how many people were willing to withhold war taxes)

(17,393 posts)and are paying more than their fair share. That would align with per capita incomes in those states, which means the wealthy are subsidizing the poor. Isn't that how the tax system is designed?
Should income taxes on the wealthy be cut, or should they be raised on their poorer counterparts to even things out more?
Is that the goal that it is trying to show?

(17,393 posts)Per capita income in California is $85,518 compared to $56,684 in Alabama. Naturally, California residents contribute more to the US Treasury in personal income taxes than Alabamians do.
Cities are no different. I can safely assume that Beverly Hills residents pay substantially more in taxes to California than those that live in Compton. Yet no one is saying that Compton residents aren't paying their fair share, and Bevery Hills is getting the short end of the stick.
Seems like the OP is suggesting that each state's residents should pay the same total amount in income taxes, regardless of income, which would be ridiculous.
