This country may well survive this autocracy enabled by one party

....but many, many people who live in America will find themselves crushed by the weight and power of the government they help fund and maintain.

Needs to be said; these people need to be lifted up.

That depends on what is meant by ‘survive.’

It might be correctly said that democracy has already failed and the country irreparably harmed by a Congress that has abandoned its authority to the executive and a Supreme Court that has codified unitary executive dogma, where presidents are now above the law and at liberty to engage in an excessive abuse of power with impunity.

And although the next Democratic president might govern with respect for – and consistent with – the Constitution and rule of law, there will be another Republican president free to function as an authoritarian despot and autocrat, ignoring the courts and democratic norms.

True survival will require expansive and comprehensive reforms – amendments to the Constitution establishing the mechanics by which a future Trump is removed from office, or, better yet, prevented from running for office to begin with.
