(5,107 posts)...everyone else who is saying "No more American goods" stays to that in longer term, will be sending tariff money to farmers on a permanent basis. Wonder if he will bail out wine and spirits industry too? Just the Canadian sales loss amounts to 10% of gross sales for US producers and EU and others are on the same buy "Anywhere but America" bandwagon which will make that downturn even worse. Defense industry facing some of the same with EU countries that want to rearm but looking to support EU vs. US industries first.

The trade bailout has now spanned three years and surpassed $23 billion, even though it was never appropriated by Congress. Instead, the money was funneled through USDAs Commodity Credit Corporation, a Depression-era agency that can borrow from the U.S. Treasury to stabilize the farm economy.
