He was running against the Democratic candidate
He did not suggest his supporters vote Democratic now that he's withdrawn. He just claimed he was innocent of all the accusations against him, and said he'd been stopped from using election funding.
*If* he'd made any attempt at any stage in this election to be part of the Democratic party, or to support it in any way whatsoever, I might see you'd have a little sympathy or respect for him. But he didn't. So why on earth would you "give him props" for doing exactly what Trump wants?
Billionaire developer Steve Witkoff, who serves as President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, is a consultant for the bidder, the Bally’s Corporation, according to his financial disclosures. Witkoff floated the Saudi diplomatic post to Adams’ team earlier this month. Trump has inserted himself into the election drama as well, publicly insisting that mayoral candidates opposed to Mamdani consolidate the field. To that end, the Trump administration and Adams’ team were working to award the mayor the ambassadorship or another administration post to get him out of the race, but he’s so far refused to step aside.
