Pete Hegseth told the assembled military this morning that they "killed people and broke things for a living."
As Dimitri Drekonja, MD wrote on bluessy: "I work with Veterans. If I told them that they "killed people and broke things for a living" they would (rightfully) tell me to go to hell. Those that have had to kill someone in the line of duty most often view it with sadness, regret, and one of the worst experiences of their lives."

At the time, and still, I couldn't come up with a reason to kill someone I didn't know, had nothing against, to get LBJ's anti-commie creds burnished.
Patriots always talk of dying for their country but never of killing for their country.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
