...when he became boss of the Gambino Crime Family. Solely for the purpose of his self-aggrandizement, Gotti compelled all his captains and soldiers to report to the Ravenite Social Club. The club was under particularly heavy surveillance after the death of Paul Castellano, and the call to come in gave the FBI and NYPD the opportunity to catalogue the faces of dozens of members of the organization who'd been unknown to law enforcement. This was one the first acts of many prompted solely by Gotti's ego that led to the ruination of that criminal enterprise.

I don't know how any of those flag officers come away from that event without serious questions about the mental stability of their Commander-In-Chief, and the fidelity of their civilian leader to the laws and Constitution. If this were a third world country, coup plans would have begun to be made. Considering the lawlessness of this administration, and the sick neglect of the Supreme Court when it come to doing anything to rein Trump in, I can't be sure thoughts of a coup haven't entered those leader's minds after today's sad spectacle. That won't happen, of course, nor should anyone want it to, but today's freak show is certain to make a lot more people wish that was an option.

5. I would definitely prefer a coup

conducted by those audience members in place of the current one. Though it was seemingly democratically elected, it became a coup once it started ruling via lawlessness.

I trust that audience has the welfare of the country in mind in a way the child rapist does not.

Describes the circumstances under which a superior officer may legally be relieved of duty. Herman Wouk's The Caine Mutiny begins with that. I would imagine a lot of the admirals were thinking about Article 184 at that event.
