The shutdown hasn't ended the use of government gibberish and mumbo jumbo. This was sent to a State Department worker who is being furloughed:

"The functions performed by the position you encumber have been determined to be non-excepted."

I have heard HR people refer to downsizing as "decruitment" and "right-sizing" and every manner of euphemism for termination of employment. I find it offensive and stupid. I should note that I am a professor of management at my university.
