I saw a facebook post about a store porting a sign that barred ICE agents from teh store unles sthey had a judicial warrant. I asked a lawyer friend about it and he said its actually legal,ICE is not a protected class and without a judicial warrant they have no special authority...

4. They can put a sign up...

...but any law enforcement agency (local, state, federal) that is carrying out a law enforcement action can enter the public part of a business without a judicial warrant. They do need a judicial warrant if they want to go into private/employee only areas.

The business can refuse to serve them if they want to, or they can ask them to leave if they're just loitering inside, but they can't keep them out of the storefront area if they are executing an enforcement action.

...a legitimate law enforcement action? It would seem that any legit action would be supported by probable cause and enjoy judicial consent, i.e. a warrant. How open ended are "law enforcement actions?"

...is where the loitering would come into play.

But if they have an immigration warrant for someone, it is completely lawful for them to follow that person into the public part of a business (or a park, etc.) and to arrest them. Or, to go into the business, say a restaurant, and wait for the employee to enter the public part of the restaurant and arrest them.
