Payback for cutting funds to blue states

My wish would be for blue states to withhold sending federal taxes to the government and see how long it would take for the “taker” red states to go belly-up.

It wouldn't be the states not paying the Feds - states don't pay taxes to the Federal government. choie Oct 2025 #6
Also there're plenty; even if not the (voting power) majority of good Dems, Dem leaning people there. electric_blue68 Oct 2025 #8

Citizens pay our taxes to the feds directly not through the state. I wish we could change that.

Why couldn't the blue states pass laws that require Federal taxes to be submitted through the state?

easily backfire.

One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is that when a company leaves a blue state for a red state the blue state could demand the repayment of all of the tax incentives that the company received over the years.

it's singular tax payers in blue states who would have to withhold their taxes. Unfortunately, since many if not most employees have their taxes take out directly from their paycheck, that won't happen.

Taxes aren't paid by the states. They are paid by individuals. How many individuals do you think are going to be willing to face criminal prosecution by withholding federal taxes?
