I remember working on the March of Dimes fundraisers a long time ago. This made me smile

(64,821 posts)Most everyone knew someone who had polio in their family.
I am old enough to remember the scare of that dread disease. One of my earliest memory is being whacked upside the head when my mother saw me try to take a drink from a public drinking fountain in JC Penny's.
My mom and dad's best friend had polio. We had 2 kids in school who had polio. Swimming pools were shut in our town until I was seven or eight. No sharing drinks from the same pop bottle.
Thank gawd for FDR and the March of dimes. Thanks for the humanitarian Jonas Salk.
Gawd damn Trump and junior Kennedy for creating an environment that might bring it back

I believe it has been the longest run of original obverse/reverse of any US coin design.
The Lincoln cent observe stayed the same, but it has had 3 reverse changes.
