To come up with a debate rebuttal to a "torture is bad" argument on a debate trip with a bunch of other debate team people. This is what amounts to funny / clever from a conservative debate person who thinks the only thing cool to do is win the debate no matter if you are lying, using fallacies, or morally wrong. It's one reason we are where we are, no-one ran this type out of their social /debate clubs for being a despicable, and now they are using those skills in "real" life ( and people seem believe every word, unopposed ).

I suspect whatever context one would put Miller's statement in would show the only argument it might apply to that isn't totally appalling is some torture scene in a Mel Gibson action movie where the hero must overcome impossible odds to save the day.
