To keep their jobs, to keep their families intact, or because they just luuuuuved Hitler, at the end of the war, most German citizens either claimed no knowledge about what had happened to the Jews (and others), or if they did know, they claimed they didn't support it.

Everyone will have always been against Trump and what he's doing. It's a quote I saw once about the Germans in WW2. After the war, it seemed like no one was responsible for anything and that everyone had "always opposed it:... so the expression is "one day everyone will have been against this"
