My Cousin Lives In Chicago

I sent her a text and said I was very concerned for her. Her answer was foreboding. She said she was OK, however she was literally reading news about ICE agents repelling out of helicopters onto apartment buildings in Chicago. She said that is actually true. She said there is a lot of tension right now. She also said there is a detention center a few miles away where protesters are being tear gassed. She also said there are armed guards in Chicago. She said apparently the protesters at the detention center are bring more aggressive, supposedly yelling and taunting the guards, and then the guard use physical force and tear gas. She was going to drive over to see for herself, but she learned that even reporters sitting in their cars have been hit by paintball guns and pellets. She said that when she thinks of it, this could get worse with physical military combat in our streets. She is afraid there will be some major shooting incidents in the near future, likely by ICE.

This is a first hand account I received just now.

That would lend credence to the orange turd that Chicago is dangerous. He knows if ICE keeps forcing the issue, someone will open fire. Then it will be a gunfight and innocent people will die. Trump is absolutely pushing the envelope to have military in as many cities as possible. Pretty soon you will have to carry "papers" to walk to work or the grocery store.

lobbed into the car window of a cbs reporter who was just driving by to see if anything was up. nothing was, but clearly they knew who she was.

yeah, it’s getting insane here. they absolutely trashed that apt building. broke down doors. went into apts and turned them over.
they’re going into predominantly black neighborhoods. east garfield park is 88% black. saw a report that there was a car accident there where they put 1 of the victims in a headlock. just for fun, i guess. ppl were filming, so they walked away.

they are getting paid huge sign-on bonuses, plus bonuses per person detained. That said, many of the tactics have the look of trained mercenaries. Each story is worse than the one before. Though I anticipated most of this, I still can't believe this is really happening.

they were talking about filing charges over the pepper ball shot at the reporter.
they put up fences that blocked the street, and got pushback on that from fire and police.

10. I live in Chicago. All true.

The stories and photos are breaking online.
Children forcibly separated from parents. Shoved naked and zip-tied into moving vans.
No warrants shown. Citizens detained until they can prove legal citizenship. (Guilty till proven innocent, I guess.)
Onlookers threatened with violence who dare to film or otherwise challenge these fascist proceedings.

PS. I have no sympathy for violent street gangs. But why are we zip-tieing sobbing, naked children and shoving them into U-hauls like so much garbage?! Good grief; what have we become?
