Let's not go over my mistake from several months ago. The short version is that JMCKUSICK (John) was having a fundraiser. Some DUers misunderstood what I said. That kept them from donating to John. He is disabled and waiting on an appeal to Social Security. That takes time. John has shared his location, the hospital he has been in, his doctor's name, etc. Not the mark of a scammer. And no troll has come out to say anything he has said is false.
John is in depending on us to keep a roof over his head. He is even willing to sign off on a loan for when he gets his back benefits.
Here is his newest update on what is going on: https://www.democraticunderground.com/10182231430
Under the conditions of a Trump economy, it is much harder to get help of this kind from the outside world.
PLEASE Donate to John here: https://gofund.me/112d07237 Kicks and replies would be appreciated too.

I would highly recommend getting in touch with your state or county legal aid for assistance.
Usually a cut in benefit is rationalized due to an prior "overpayment"
Please have professional people help you through that morass and I wish you success.

(60,436 posts)I admit, I usually do neither (been burned a couple of times, and lost interest).
You took the trouble, so I did as well.
There was a single amount of a top donation listed. There is now another.
Thanks for bothering. I am just playing follow the leader.

The kindness and love shown me by so many here is truly overwhelming sometimes. With tears of gratitude flowing frequently this weekend, Thank you OmahaSteve, DFW, and so many others, I'm grateful beyond words.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
