This is what the opening move of the U.S.'s attempted annexation of Canada could look like

Anyone think this is beyond Trump's fevered mind? I don't.

A Trump annexation effort would likely start in the North. It’s time to take the possibility seriously and have a hard conversation about Canada’s maritime Arctic sovereignty

Canada needs to consider the possibility that U.S. President Donald Trump will soon, and without our permission, send American warships into and through the waterways of the Canadian Arctic archipelago, commonly known as the Northwest Passage.

I don't know the poster so I could be wrong, but I certainly took it a different way.

How about a strike from Alaska or the Arctic to friendly territory - Alberta?

to send troops (though I can no longer state that with 100% certainty).

Always thought of Canadians as based in reality. But I guess with a madman on your border, it's tough.

We would win any fight with them, but we would be contending with guerilla fighters for decades.

I’m not confident we could defeat all of the combined other NATO members. Especially with Whiskey Pete as Secretary of “War.”

Poor leadership might make the difference, but I believe that our military could not be prevented from doing whatever they wanted to do on this continent.

Canada could never be reinforced by sea We just have too strong of a navy.

They couldn't stop an invasion, our army and air force our just too powerful, but they would never stop fighting any more than we would.

Canada can’t beat the US militarily, but that doesn’t mean everyday Canadians will shy away from killing invaders wherever they may be.

If you doubt me, read up on the Quebec separatist bombings of the 1970’s.

...The Oregon boundary dispute or the Oregon Question was a 19th-century territorial dispute over the political division of the Pacific Northwest of North America

...

James K. Polk, invoked the popular theme of manifest destiny and appealed to voters' expansionist sentiments in pressing for annexation, and defeated the Whig candidate, Henry Clay.

watch and do nothing at all if he tries that? He can think and make hints and ignorant comments all day long, but he's not going to annex Canada.
