(82,344 posts)-The US military is more mixed in viewpoints than people realize.
-Sophisticated, highly technical warfare cannot be waged with only MAGA morons.
-Active Duty cannot speak out.
-Retired military can speak out so listen to them.

(1,791 posts)But rights to free speech remain, as we were told way back in 1978, when people asked if they could participate in some local things that were anti-military (if memory serves). Yes, it seems crazy, military protesting military, but it's allowed as a private citizen.
We gave up no rights when we enlisted. There are rules about decorum, but they are specific. I no longer can cite the UCMJ, but it was in there.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
