Come after me Trump. I will cash in my 401K and hire Roberta Kaplan (E. Jean Carrols lawyer).
I look forward to the discovery phase of the trial.

(43,320 posts)What reason(s) do you have to even think DU would be targeted?
What reason(s) do you have to think that DU hasn't already been targeted. Huh? Take your time.

(28,508 posts)DU was offline for a full week, starting on Election Day, after a targeted denial of service attack by some cowardly human excrement.
Anybody think that wasn't done by The Felon and his goons (including Putin)?

(43,320 posts)as far as we've learned from Earl G.
So I'm in the 'not likely' camp because I see no reason(s) to think DU will be targeted.
lastlib
(28,508 posts)given that we're hostile to The Felon and his crime syndicate. We've seen their willingness to make up "facts". I have little doubt that we are, or will be, on the "hit list".

(43,320 posts)And if we keep fighting the good fight and things generally don't change for the better, I can see that happening.
But from the hit list we've seen so far, he's got to get through the current 60+2 governors and 1 mayor on that hit list first.

(10,423 posts)It's times like these that I wish DU's search function worked better than it does.
EDIT: Pray tell, where exactly you think these MAGA fascists will find a line that even they won't cross? What is the most extreme you see them going to, hmm?

(10,423 posts)Going after DU? Is that the line you think they'll draw? Even though they've done far worse than that already and have gone after other groups on the left already?

(5,545 posts)The site owners, administrators, and those who keep the site running hauled off to a camp? Authoritarians crush opponents to benefit themselves, the reich-wing Republicans fear their own base and Trump more than they fear the Democratic base or politicians. Crushing DU in that way now is like crossing the street to squash a bug that you don't like. Someday it may be worth their while, but there are too many much bigger fish that need frying now.
Or targeted by cyber attack? They already have these trolls and bots on their payroll. Haven't there already been some site disruptions here? I very much doubt that those have been caused either by competing Democratic sites or Bernie bros.

(60,320 posts)Reduce targeting by blowing off Muck and X and tracking.
Do that by not linking to X. X is data central. X has so many data partners. Linking to X increases your exposure and increases your associates exposure.
Most people think of user data on the internet as being a billion little silos, one for each person. It is also all of the vehicle traffic (to extend the farming analogy) between the silos and the feed store and the harvester repair shop and the country-pop fan site and the site where some of the comments are not repeatable in polite company and .... It's about connections, networks of associates and what binds them.

We'll just have to vote wisely, and hope those votes are counted. Stay home, and that's where the thugs will next show up to "thank" you in their own inimitable fashion.

(60,320 posts)It's not about you being in a little data silo labelled pbmus, it's all the people who click on linked X. Most of them don't reject cookies and are wide open.
The medium sized companies, like some middling health advice web site will state "We have 814 partners and we share data with them". The tightly interlinked companies analyze and generate data maps that show connectivity of user and visitors. If you link a Xit and user B looks at it three times and looks at Xit posted by user C, they make the transitive connection. Multiply this by millions of posts on DU and realize that Xit posts feed the Bros.
Don't feed Musk if you are sincere about your concerns.

They are literally having "discussions and investigations" into something that does not exist as an entity, so they are making us into that entity in order to justify their planned persecution.
