(608 posts)The Republicans kept not showing up, so it brought the state legislature to a standstill. Then they would only have a few weeks to do an entire session's worth of work.
Then the voters passed a constitutional amendment that states if a legislator has more than 10 unexcused absences, they are ineligible to run in the next election. It's not a permanent ban, but a time out!
BTW, it passed with 68%! Even Republican voters were sick of their representatives not bothering to show up!
