In his first term, Trump slammed Qatar as a country that he said had been a “funder of terrorism at a very high level.” His perspective on the Middle Eastern country has apparently evolved quite a bit over eight years.

But the president’s shift has gone well beyond rhetorical praise. Politico reported:

Trump’s new executive order added that the U.S. was prepared to take “all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic and, if necessary, military — to defend the interests of the United States and the State of Qatar.”

They are building a training facility (classrooms, admin buildings and hangers) at Mountain Home AFB to train pilots on the F15s we are selling them. It’ll be similar to the training facility built for the Singapore AF at Mountain Home when we sold them their F15s.

Glad we're getting the real story. I wonder if wingnuts ever self-correct on the web forums and twitter-type places they visit, or do false interpretations always get spread and allowed to stand unchallenged when they reflect badly on the left, no matter how ludicrous?

My guess would be typically the latter.

They are building a facility on a base which several other countries already have at different US installations around the country It is part of a deal, negotiated by President Biden, not some quid pro quo.

In any case, what does it matter? Are we concerned a few Qatari pilots are going to take over Idaho?

And we're allowing them to build an airport inside our borders?

It must be true that money can buy this Administration.

It's just for training their pilots to fly the planes we sold to them. Except I'm sure Trump and other corrupt administration officials will be making a bunch of money from it. Bribes, kickbacks, and if course the golden jet Trump already got.

Flaunting ownership of exclusive military air bases in the US?
