Country music singer Lee Greenwood is ready to take on the honor of performing at Super Bowl LX.
After the NFL announced last month that Bad Bunny will headline next years Super Bowl halftime show, many in President Donald Trumps base slammed the decision, with some pointing to his outspoken criticism of the president and his policies. The outrage had made its way to Trump who called the move absolutely ridiculous.
I never heard of him, Trump said on Newsmaxs Greg Kelly Reports earlier this week. I dont know who he is, I dont know why theyre doing it, its crazy, and then they blame it on some promoter that they hired to pick up entertainment.
House Speaker Mike Johnson also took aim at Bad Bunny, one of the most widely streamed artists in the world, and suggested that the Puerto Rican superstar should be replaced with Greenwood.

Greenwood will turn 83 later this month. Is he still going to be alive by the time the Super Bowl rolls around?

(9,236 posts)I didn't know who Bad Bunny is, but then I live in a radio desert and listen to World Music stations streaming on Pandora. But doing a little reading on the Bunny and am intrigued. Lee Greenwood? Didn't even know he was still alive.

(12,579 posts)Now I'm definitely going to watch the halftime show. And I never watch football, but this has piqued my curiosity. I bet a lot of people who don't normally watch football will be tuning in. Great way to push up ad sales.

(10,416 posts)The White House hit back at Grande using her own song titles after she shared a post on her Instagram story that was critical of the administration.
After Ariana Grande shared a post on her Instagram story criticizing the Trump administration over its immigration policy, anti-transgender agenda and censorship, the White House is hitting back at the pop star and actor.
Grande, a Grammy-winning artist and star of the film adaptation of Wicked, shared a post from makeup artist and influencer Matt Bernstein, which said in part:
"its been 250 days. now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all has your life gotten better?"

(10,416 posts)He had a grand total of 3 songs hit the Billboard Pop Chart. "I.O.U." hit #53 in 1983, "Somebody's Gonna Love You" hit #96 also in 1983. "God Bless the U.S.A." missed the pop charts completely when it was originally released in 1984. However, it hit #16 in 2001 when it was re-released after 9/11. His last new song to even hit the country chart was 33 years ago in 1992.
I would imagine well over 99% of the population have never heard another song of his other than "God Bless the U.S.A."
He is the exact opposite of what Mike Johnson claimed he is "someone who appeals to a broader audience". Hell, he never appealed to a single person who didn't listen to country music 35 or more years ago.
