Loss of Canadian tourism in the Florida Keys is a shock to the system.

I live in the Tavernier Islamorada area of the Keys and for the first time since Trump showed his ass to our wonderful Canadian neighbors last year, we are now seeing and feeling the loss of their annual migration. Yes, traffic is much less congested as is the seating in restaurants. But I can just imagine how much it is negatively affecting the local restaurants, hotels, fishing captains, shop owners, home and apartment sales and rentals.

However… guess how they voted in the last election? Hard to feel sorry for them.

In our hospitals and food banks and all kinds of charities. Locals get impatient because of the traffic, long lines but I think we’re gonna realize just how much they contribute and we depend on them.

Big, high-income travelers. They have vowed NEVER to vacation in the U.S. while Trump is in office. And they used to do Florida, Arizona, Vegas, Hawaii. Its all Mexico, Central America and South Pacific now. They wanted to travel in U.S. on a big road trip, but bailed on that too. Said there are many, many others who feel the same way. They're not flaming liberals either. They are absolutely aghast at what our coutry has become.

farmers voted for him in '24. His tariffs in '20 caused China to stop buying soybeans then and caused quite a bit of pain to the farmers back then.

These people already knew firsthand how damaging to them his tariff policy was.

Then in '24 he says he was going to do it again and they vote for him! Again! And guess what? He does what he said he would do and had done before, and now the farmers are hurting just like last time. What did they expect? I can't believe people can be this stupid. Sometimes I have no hope for this country.

The first time around while I thought anyone voting for trump was making a huge mistake I gave them the benefit of a doubt.

Not this time they had four years of him making lots of statements. Fixing healthcare, Infrastructure, ect and never doing them and screaming about it is all the democrats fault. Personally attacking everyone that he did not like, and then Jan 6th.

It is not trumps fault this time, we know what he is, the voters that put him there know what he is and they like it.

I have a hard time being around trump supporters, avoid most of my wife's family for that reason this second term.

A lot of progressives and moderates were willing to give Trump voters some empathy and the benefit of the doubt during and just after the 2020 election. We excused them for being uninformed or inexperienced.

Not this time, though. The empathy and sympathy has evaporated. The Trump voters had a decade and more to see what 45/47 was. They went through four years of chaos with the rest of us. They gave in to their worst impulses and chose to vote for Orange Julius again. Clearly they learned nothing.

I am one of those people who lost any sympathy for those people. They went for the clown show and p*ssed on common decency and the foundations. My sympathy has gone. Voting is a serious business, a task to vote for what is good for our country now and in the future, and these guys treated it like American Idol. Anyone so hateful and careless as to vote for Orange Julius deserves no pity as the (excrement) hits the fan.

It strikes me as how little journalists and politicians are acknowledging how many folks don’t want their tax money being used to help farmers who overwhelmingly supported Trump.

These farmers who voted for Trump are perhaps not wise enough to be farmers. My Dad was a farmer with 6th grade education, but he was wise and would never have voted for this man.

Surely a lesser distance than between Rump and Malaria.
