A small-town Alabama police chief has stepped down amid an investigation into the alleged sexual harassment of a young female employee.

Cordova Police Chief Jason Hare, a husband and father, resigned Monday, Mayor Jeremy Pate confirmed. The resignation came just four months after Hare was hired.

The allegations involve an 18-year-old dispatcher. AL.com obtained video of at least one incident in question.

That video, recorded on department surveillance video on Aug. 26, 2025, shows the dispatcher at her computer.

The video shows Hare approach the dispatcher and a short time later, he begins to play with the hair on top of her head.

She makes a gesture to shoo him away. Hare then leans all the way over her as they both appear to look at the dispatch screen.

At one point, he grabs her head and pulls her toward him while he is standing and she is sitting.

He continues to get extremely close to her and then puts his hands around her neck as if he were playfully choking her.

If I felt intimidated or compromised in some why, that would be my first reaction. Withdraw from the threat.

Being such a small town, she's probably the only dispatcher on duty, leaving her station would be grounds for termination, along side the fact that it was the Police Chief that was harassing her.

Sounds to me like you're trying to put the blame on this 18 yo woman.
