A Huge Problem: DOJ May Have Withheld Evidence Suggesting Letitia James Innocence

The New York Times reports U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan may have left out important information in her indictment against New York AG Letitia James that might have derailed some charges.
In the indictment, Halligan accuses Ms. James of having misrepresented the purpose of the house when she purchased it in August 2020 for $137,000, reports the Times. The indictment says that while Ms. James indicated to her mortgage broker that she expected to use the house as a second home, she had instead used it as a rental investment property, renting the property to a family.
Only it does not look like she rented it at all.
The Times reports occupant Nakia Thompson Letitia James grandniece testified to a grand jury in Norfolk, VA. that she had lived in the house for years (with her children) and that she did not pay rent, according to a person familiar with her testimony.
Additionally, The Times reports prosecutors did not ask Nakia Thompson to testify again, and the grand jury that voted to indict Letitia James was not seated in Norfolk, where this information was revealed, but in Alexandria.
Lawfare Senior Editor Anna Bower posted on X that she suspected prosecutors used the other grand jury for testimony, then moved things over to Alexandria to seek indictment.
But the big problem in the testimony, according to legal analyst Jeffrey Evan Gold, is that Halligan may have excluded this evidence to pad her case against James, which if proven true would not go well for her in court.

(11,550 posts)If a federal judge would lock her up for contempt for doing this.
Then, when Donnie Convict pardons her... the judge does it again for the next thing she does. And, again. And, again.
Just keep on locking her up for contempt charges for lying to the court as well as trying to get her way in the courtroom by less than proper methods, whatever she is doing that day in the courtroom. Every time she does anything... lock her up for contempt.
They cannot pardon stuff in advance. They damned well cannot stop a judge from doing this. And, I doubt she can keep herself from acting the fool anyway, so...

(4,736 posts)... that Prezzidint Pisswig can pardon anyone on state charges, only federal ones. Those with greater knowledge on the subject should feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

(11,550 posts)Why stop now?
Plus, he is hot to get some federal charges on her, because that way he is not reliant on some state to do his dirty work.
(He would prefer that they did, but he hates that he does not get to be a tough guy to her himself. Not that he would ever actually be in the same room as her without several large goons because a strong, black woman is far too scary to someone like him.)

(4,168 posts)She is an attorney who is barred in federal bar and one or more states. Federal judge can start disbarment while each state will require a separate process.

(4,736 posts)... SHOCKED! That a Republican would lie to further the unwarranted prosecution of a vindictive madman! Oh, wait... right. Lying is all these scumbags know how to do. Which says nothing good about the judgement or character of those that persist in voting for them.
Mop the floor with that vile creature, Leticia.

(5,616 posts)so that a grand jury indictment is a slam-dunk for any less-than-ethical prosecutor!
My understanding is that the purpose of a grand jury, is to determine if there is sufficient evidence for proceeding to Court. But if a prosecutor is free to leave any evidence out that could cast doubt on their case.....

(4,736 posts)... that withholding exculpatory evidence constitutes prosecutorial misconduct, which is supposed to be a big legal no-no. But we are talking about Republicans here, and honesty and integrity are to them like water was to the Wicked Witch of the West.

All of these people have been working for him previously. He must have something he holds over them.
