Hamas is reasserting control of parts of Gaza not occupied by Israeli forces as the ceasefire takes hold amid continuing uncertainty about security in the territory if the group is disarmed.
Hamas internal security forces were pictured on the streets of Gaza City on Saturday, and there have been multiple reports of clashes between the group and clans opposing it in recent days.
A number of collaborators and informants were apprehended and arrested in Gaza City, after it was proven that they were involved in spying for the enemy, as well as participating in the assassination of several resistance members, the Palestinian Home Front, a Telegram channel affiliated with Hamas, said Sunday.
The security services and the resistance are conducting a wide-scale field campaign across all areas of the Gaza Strip, from north to south, to locate and arrest collaborators and informants, it said.

But Krasnov told them to behave.

(12,756 posts)Sorry, pro-Palestinian folks. HAMAS has as much responsibility for the genocide as the Israelis do. They don't give a crap about their own people other than to use them as human shields.

(4,409 posts)Also bombed themselves somehow with US made bombs in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, 2023. Murdering thousands of civilians and destroying hospitals, power plants and infrastructure in the process of self-genocide which continues to this day!
That Hamas is real tricky.
Ive heard that Antifa is the new Hamas here in the States.

...And Gaza has a separate border with Eygpt they could have used if their major export to Eygpt didn't turn out to be terrorism.
You mean Israel blocaded an area that was lead by a group who openly said they would destroy them. How dare they.

And the Human Shields mantra should not be repeated by anyone with eyes to see what Gaza looks like. It's the greatest excuse ever invented to justify the murder of children and civilians.
Especially when the other side is shielding itself with an Iron Shield they dont even have to pay for. Makes them look so courageous and gallant. You know, Western, Judeo-Christian values and all.

(4,409 posts)But of course we all know "human shields" actually means people you have the right to kill with impunity. Funny how the illogic and immorality of that is not ever questioned...
The successful inversion of reality, aka gaslighting, is why Israel gets away with everything. But only because too many of us in the West are willing to be gaslit. Funny how the Global South doesn't have that problem, just us in the "civilized" West.
And unlike the fabled Iron Dome, human bodies don't provide a shield against bombs and missiles and an enemy intent on killing the "shields" - family, neighbours, kids in schools and hospital patients etc - along with the "shielded".

(23,738 posts)I hear otherwise. Hamas back in Gaza does not bold well. Plus they claim that Palestinians are moving back into war torn Gaza.
I fear for their safety.

(14,075 posts)If and when Hamas doesn't disarm, there will need to be force used to prevent suffering in Gaza at the hands of Hamas and a de facto base for radical Islamism. This next phase of the peace plan seems very challenging to me. Maybe the participating Arab states can get into Gaza and take charge?
