(11,011 posts)At least its good he is talking about how evil Trumps immigration and Gaza policies are. Some of his shows get 20 to 40 million views so I like that hes now calling whats happening in Gaza - a genocide and calling out how inhumane ICE is.
He called Trump s policies crazy and inhumane. Anyone with a fucking heart cant support this
Good that millions of bros are at least hearing him condemn Trumps policies.
He did have an interesting debate on Israel & genocide with his friend (comedian & podcaster) Jewish Libertarian anti genocide popular social media personality Dave Smith and Zionist Douglas Murphy. So he is doing stuff to promote anti- genocide causes.
It could be worse if he was out there telling 50 million Americans that Israel and Ice are wonderful.
. #### Key Quotes from the October 3 Episode:
- On the scale of destruction: "What is happening in Gaza amounts to genocide. It's not just warit's eradication on a level that's hard to comprehend without seeing the footage. We've bombed places before, but this feels different, like they're not even pretending to minimize civilian deaths."
- Challenging defenses of Israel: "Look, Israel has a right to defend itself, but against what now? The Hamas leadership is scattered, and we're talking about women and children getting blown apart in refugee camps. If your response is just 'self-defense,' you're not engaging with the reality on the ground."
- On media and censorship: "No one wants to talk about it because the narrative is locked down. You say 'genocide,' and suddenly you're antisemitic? That's how they shut down the conversation. We've got to call bullshit on thattruth isn't hate."
This episode featured comedian Dave Smith (a libertarian anti-interventionist) pushing back on pro-Israel arguments, echoing a heated April 2025 debate with Douglas Murray where Rogan defended Palestinian perspectives against Murray's hawkish stance. Rogan quipped about Murray: "He's still out there peddling the same lines, but the body count in Gaza doesn't lieit's brutal, and pretending otherwise is intellectual dishonesty."

My older son loves Rogan's podcast and maybe, just maybe, he will start thinking critically about the Trump administration's actions. His mind is closed to us, we are just his parents and predictable liberal democrats.
But he's actually a really smart guy with a strong libertarian streak. He's someone I would expect to wise up, with the chance to hear truth from someone he already likes.

(1,969 posts)Was it money? Or religion? Its usually one of those two that creates a conservative out of one they has liberal parents.
What Ive realized over the years is that we really never build it all by ourselves (kinda going back to that Obama comment from years ago). Theres always someone or something there that helps us. It may be being part of the lucky sperm/egg club and being born into wealth, or maybe you werent but society still had a hand in providing public schools, a federal program, or maybe there was that someone they saw something in you when others didnt. Not everyone is lucky. Thats why we have these programs, to provide opportunity.
Rarely does anyone do it all on their own.
Maybe you raised him well enough and provided to the point where he convinced himself he did it all on his own.

(11,011 posts)Before the last election he said he never voted for a Republican in his life - often voting Libertarian. We still dont know how he voted as he seemed to endorse Trump after he had Elon on but never said he voted for him. He says he is in the middle but socially very liberal as his family had food stamps when he was a kid.
Press turned against Rogan big time during Covid because he had Dr Malone and Bret & Heather Weinstein On his show questioning the Covid vaccines.
Republicans came to his defense when liberal press attacked him.
### Background on the Controversy
In September 2021, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, podcast host Joe Rogan announced on Instagram that he had tested positive for the virus. He described using a "kitchen sink" approach to treatment, including monoclonal antibodies, prednisone, a Z-Pak antibiotic, and ivermectina Nobel Prize-winning antiparasitic drug approved for human use against certain infections like river blindness, but also commonly used as a dewormer in livestock. Rogan emphasized that his ivermectin was prescribed by a doctor and credited it, alongside other treatments, for his quick recovery within days.
This disclosure sparked immediate backlash, particularly from Democratic-leaning media outlets (CNN & MSNBC} and public figures, who framed ivermectin as an unproven "horse dewormer" and criticized Rogan for promoting misinformation. The FDA had issued warnings against using ivermectin for COVID-19, citing insufficient evidence of efficacy and risks from self-medication with veterinary formulations, which led to a surge in poison control calls. Large-scale trials, like one published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2022, later confirmed ivermectin showed no significant benefit against COVID-19. However, Rogan's case highlighted tensions over off-label prescribing, media narratives, and public health messaging.
### Key Democratic and Media Attacks
The criticism came predominantly from left-leaning networks like CNN and MSNBC, which are often aligned with Democratic viewpoints. Here's a breakdown of notable instances:
- **CNN's Coverage**: Multiple anchors repeatedly referred to ivermectin as a "livestock drug" or "horse dewormer" in direct reference to Rogan. For example:
- On September 1, 2021, Erin Burnett said Rogan "took a drug intended for livestock."
- Anderson Cooper described it as "something more often used to deworm horses." - good summation from AI.
Anyway - they were calling for Rogan to be de platformed.
If your son has Libertarian leanings, Rogan often has Jewish anti-genocide Libertarian podcaster/comic Dave Smith on who the young really like.
Rogan did have Bernie on again a while back. Lately - seems like his shows are all sports/men themes - not so much politics except when he has Dave Smith on. I might listen if he has a woman, a psychologist or some interesting intellectual on. I do like to listen when he has Dave Smith on because Dave is vehemently against genocide and well very educated on the history of the region.
Rogan is not religious and does not need money as he has the number one podcast in the world. Seems like his main love is his comedy club in Austin.
