I like having an Indigenous People's day too. But two holidays are always better than one.

Look up the real Chef Boy ar Dee. He organized and cooked the homecoming dinner for 2000 soldiers held by Woodrow Wilson after WWI. His factory helped feed troops during WWII.

I remember first seeing him not on SNL - but on Not Necessarily the News (on HBO - anyone remember?).

The segment was on corruption in religion - and included three holy rollers and (of course!) Father Sarducci.

The three holy rollers (in video clips taken from actual interviews), all offered up bullshit explanations as to how, exactly, they had come to be so rich - all while using Christ.

Robert Schuler, for example, claimed that it was all thanks to "positive thinking."

Then came Father Sarducci, who simply said that "well - we in-a the Catholic Church, we make-a money the old-fashioned way...we play bingo."

He was a hoot.

Marconi’s Shame — Why Italy Has Forgotten The Iconic Founder Of Wireless Communications

Gugliemo Marconi, the legendary Italian inventor of wireless communication, the man who connected the world, is not celebrated as he should be — because of his politics. As Italy marks the 150th anniversary of his birth, it may be time for the nation to finally come to terms with Marconi the inventor and the entrepreneur — and let go of the fact that he was a member of the Fascist Party.

Guglielmo Marconi: Inventor and Fascist

The downside of Marconi – he was a fascist. He was a strong supporter of Italian dictator Benito Mussolini who appointed him president of the Royal Academy of Italy. And if that wasn’t enough, Marconi was an antisemite. He rejected all Jewish applicants to the academy.

Columbus was a shit, and wasn't even the first to discover "America". In fact, even the Vikings weren't the first, those people who came over the Bering Strait about 20K years ago were the first. I'm proud to have their ancestry in my veins.

I also acknowledge that my white ancestors stole this land from the people who were here first. It's a sad legacy, but so long ago that there's nothing I can do about it now, except to honor those who were here first.

Is listed in the history books as John Cabot pretty much explains everything you need to know about anti-Italian discrimination in this country.
