Who is Antifa?

The right is now promoting the Antifa as a terrorist group based on several MAGAts apparently violent interaction with hostile people. These ‘victims’ have reported that they were attacked by Antifa. Are the ‘villains’ openly identifying themselves as Antifa?

During my seventy four years as an active liberal, I’ve met left winged idealists identifying as SDS, Young Democrats, and even those who supported Weathermen. To date, I have never met anyone identifying as Antifa. Anti fascist, yes, we should all decry fascism.

The "victims" decrying Antifa as terrorists are, in nearly all cases, RW provocateurs who went looking to start confrontations. Patriot Front, based in Vancouver WA, regularly went into Portland to start shit in 2018, 2019, 2020. They found it.

On edit: I know that 18-year-olds are legally adults. Since my own children are in their late 30s, I use "kids" colloquially to refer to young adults in their late teens and early 20s.

There has been thread after thread after thread recently of people claiming "I am antifa."

Otherwise, I agree with you.

Antifa doesn't exist, and while I'm against fascism, my identity is neither antifa nor anti-fascist. I'm not letting the right define my identity and I wish others wouldn't either.

6. I think you missed my point

I see almost daily DU posts about being antifa……mostly from our veterans and posts pointing out individuals who actively fought against fascist regimes. The Antifa I’m talking about is the nebulous ‘terror’ group bent on destruction the this current administration has propagandized.

I admire your individuality. More people should think for themselves and not be lemmings running off a cliff.
