(4,277 posts)The official numbers are newsworthy.
Last time there were those who tried to inflate the numbers. But the organizers did not, and reported numbers I believe were reliable.

(4,111 posts)For a protest rally? Very strange. Why would anyone try to limit the size? Why the need to sign up at all?

(4,111 posts)I have been to hundreds of marches and rallies over a 50 year period and I don't remember ever running anything like that. Yes, we always tried to predict the size of the turnout for security, trash pickup, portajohns and so on. I find it odd.

(55,525 posts)I was on an elevated area and the sea of 80,000 people made me cry (seriously). On NO KINGS Oct 18 there are now 3 protests within 1 mile of each other.
I signed up for it on Sept. 6th! I told everyone how big this was going to be, I'm 3 experienced at being an activist by now (33 protests).
Don't forget to bring noise makers.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
