(14,940 posts)It tells me that the racist hatred will need to be stopped from root to stem.....otherwise....it will rise again..... as we now know, 60's civil rights movement and legislation once successful now resurfaces from the youth of the 50's 60's crowd....
Globally, Nazi groups also never totally died out..... I don't know yet how to explain Benjamin Netanyahu...... other than he learned nothing from WWII.

(19,307 posts)"J.D. Vance is downplaying a leak of thousands of leaked messages from Young Republican leaders that contained racist and offensive language...the Vice President brushed off the messages, turning instead to criticize Democratic Virginia Attorney General candidate Jay Jones, who recently came under fire for messages he sent in 2022, in which he proposed a hypothetical scenario where he would shoot Todd Gilbert, then the Republican Speaker of the House, and wished that Gilberts children would be harmed."
'This is far worse than anything said in a college group chat, and the guy who said it could become the AG of Virginia,' Vance said in his social media post, referring to Jones. 'I refuse to join the pearl clutching when powerful people call for political violence.'

I haven't seen any comments from Führer Trump.

(8,391 posts)He may be flawed, and his comments may be tasteless, but remind me again, what 34 felonies was he convicted of? Until Republicans start actively disassociating from Trump, they have no right to lecture anyone on who is or is not a suitable candidate for any office.
Thanks

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
