Trump Aides Reveal Just How Obsessed He Is With His White House MAGA Makeover (The Daily Beast)Trump is literally the project manager, one person close to Trump told Axios, as the president personally chooses marble patterns, lighting, and floor layouts across 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
They are all part of a splashy remake anchored by a new ballroom budgeted at $200 million by the White House in July, though advisers now peg it at about $250 million, the outlet reported.

(41,040 posts)I find the name White House so boring. IDK the history of the name, I should look it up, but what a yawn. Really? They couldn't come up with a better name than to name a white house White House?
on edit: LOL, so I was right. But there is some interesting history.
The White House gets its name from its white-painted sandstone exterior and a subsequent official declaration by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1901. The popular myth that the building was painted white to cover scorch marks from the War of 1812 is not accurate.
The nickname originProtection, not fire damage: The building, originally constructed from porous, gray sandstone, was first covered with a white lime-based wash in 1798. This was done to protect the stone walls from moisture and cracking during freezing temperatures.
A descriptive nickname: The white exterior stood out from the surrounding red brick buildings in the new capital, and the public quickly began referring to it as "the White House".
Pre-dates the fire: The use of the nickname was documented years before British troops burned the building during the War of 1812 in 1814. After the fire, the structure was rebuilt and repainted white, which only reinforced the public's nickname for the residence.
Official name changePrevious names: The president's residence was officially known by a variety of names throughout the 19th century, including the "President's Palace," the "President's House," and the "Executive Mansion".
Roosevelt's decree: The nickname was made official in 1901 by President Theodore Roosevelt. He issued an executive order to change the heading on all official papers from "Executive Mansion" to "The White House".
Distinguishing the residence: Roosevelt believed the new name was necessary to distinguish the presidential residence from state governors' residences, which were also called "executive mansions".

Otherwise, we and all future generations will have to be reminded of this gaudy wreck of a human that once led this country.

It will be almost as difficult to restore the White House as well as Democracy when Orrex's dream comes through and the orange pedophile "shuffles off his mortal coil" as it was for Germany after Hitler solved his problems with a bullet to his brain.

This building will be bigger than the White House itself.
In this image the White House is to the far right. You can see the walkway between the 2 buildings.

In this image, you can see the White House to the left and the Ballroom to the right.
