Looking for inspiration!
The volume of shit to pick from is a bottomless pit.
I'm debating going with a healthcare vs guilded ballroom priorities theme, but there are *so* many worthy topics that need daylight (and megaphones).
Anyone decide on your signs yet?
What pithy thoughts are rolling around in everyone's mind these days?

(2,511 posts)Could also use some ideas!
I think mom's probably won't want to hang out with me if my sign says "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" on one side, and "This Machine Kills Fascists" on the other. Which is what I was leaning towards

B. We LOVE AMERICA: We just DON'T LOVE TRUMP and he can't handle it!
C. If Republicans honored their oath, we wouldn't be here today.
D. Protesting means NOTHING if you DON'T VOTE!
E. So this is the Radical Left?
I'm going with:

(14,147 posts)Mostly because they keep me from mingling and meeting so many wonderful like-minded people. I think I will just wear my Good Trouble tee shirt and carry a small but not tiny American flag. And maybe a cow bell. Every good protest needs More Cow Bell.

(331 posts)Keeping it simple and clean (although I did have several other ideas). No Kings and Against Fascism!
She's a recently naturalized citizen (derivative) so I'm taking the time to talk to her about the protest, why we are protesting, what it means to me, and why it is important. I find it rather enjoyable and she asks me a lot of good questions.
I won't take her with me to the protest as I have too many worries about what could go wrong in the dystopian nightmare in which we live.
Stay safe.

I'm in favor of signs that try to reach the middle-ground folks who might be finally "seeing the light" that Trump is betraying everything America is supposed to stand for -- the folks who might actually be persuadable.
Signs that aren't necessarily clever, but that remind us of our country's foundations and core principles, which are being betrayed by the Current Occupant and his administration.
There have been a lot of really clever signs (which I have thoroughly enjoyed) at previous protests, but sometimes I've felt like a lot of the clever signs are the choir amusing the choir.
At the Hands Off protest, one of my favorite signs was one that simply said "Our Veterans Deserve Better." It wasn't clever, but it said something important and fundamental that most Americans could agree on and possibly be prompted to think about. It was also a sign that can't be easily pooh-poohed as being from "crazy leftists," etc. I also liked the ones where people referred to their grandfather having fought against fascism during WWII and being upset about it coming to this country (those signs said it far more eloquently and succinctly than I am doing). Who doesn't respect the tremendous sacrifices of the Greatest Generation?
Along those lines, especially since the Current Occupant and his enablers are trying to frame the No Kings protest as some sort of subversion, I like these two quotes, from Republican presidents (and their party affiliation deserves to be highlighted on the sign):
"May we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion."
President Dwight D. Eisenhower - Republican
To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
President Theodore Roosevelt - Republican
Let's keep showing that WE are the patriots, by speaking up and reminding the country of the many ways DJT is betraying everything the country was founded on. (But a few more clever signs than these have their place as well!)

(54,453 posts)I suggest keeping it under 5 words. Also, get a very good image that will speak volumes.
Make your sign double sided (I always do that).
Make it strong and durable. I've had the same prototype/ base for all of my signs.
I discovered in 2017 that if you make one really strong sign and handle with a 3/4 inch dowel taped to a 36×24 white foam core your sign will withstand tons of protests and windy weather. Just make a new sign for each protest on illustration board and tape it securely to the foam core. Do a double sided one and you get more bang for your buck.
Any topic is applicable to NO KINGS. It covers everything from health care, Epstein, his failing health, henchman Miller, ICE, price increase due to his tariffs, etc. It's an all-in-one protest.

(26,588 posts)I like being able to reuse the foam board. I only had 1 stashed away.

(54,453 posts)It still was going strong after being used so often. The corners were getting a little bent so I splurged and bought a new one.
