(34,959 posts)The alternative conclusion/alternate choice is a type of question use in persuasive communication when directing discourse. If you want to convince someone to choose between two options you give them two options. You can manipulate someone's decision based on the choices offered during the discourse.
I'm quite sure that this famous writer knows this.
I question is a set up.
Stephen had an agenda.

(34,959 posts)SK may have a monetized account and did it purely to rile up the masses (who in the world are generally asses my boss would say) and he does such for clicks.
My opinion, I should say, is influenced by my general apathy toward the man. The only King with strong opinions that I'm interested in is named Martin Luther.
Thanks for your reply, Wounded Bear.

(34,959 posts)And I read it... the replies.
Like I try to do. Instead of just what I call driving by. Replying to the OP but not reading what others contribute.
I was thinking that the entire time it was MLK. Boy was I wrong. It was Stephen King. I Totally had to shift my perspective.

(321,159 posts)It's part of the leaning experience mostly. I like to Rec the Posts, too.. that's a good addition to DU, imo.. Another way to communicate.
Oh Yeah MLK! Now there's a brilliant King.

(56,297 posts)He claimed to have been told that as a compliment. Now, of course, he could certainly be lying -- he didn't name the person who gave him that compliment and his story included the word "sir", which at this point is a bit of a tell. So at best it's an unverifiable account from the most thoroughly documented liar in history, take it for what it's worth.
Moreover, he's basically telling would-be sycophants what the standard is for compliments, so, maybe there's not much difference....

(34,959 posts)The emotional trauma he's causing is already nuclear and worldwide. Forget about the "codes" because at this point I think if he "pushed the button" it would thankfully put me out of my misery. Of course, I would and do, feel bad for the rest of the world.
