Many know this protest song, I hope to get the group that I'll be with singing this with me.
The song...
The new lyrics for tomorrow and perhaps beyond. (I don't think Graham Nash will mind.)
And they've chained him to a chair
Won't you please come out to protest just to sing?
In a land that's known as freedom
How can such a thing be fair?
Won't you please come out to protest
For the help that we can bring?
We can change the world
Rearrange the world
It's dying
To get better
Politicians sit yourselves down, we're who you need to hear
Won't you please come out to protest for our rights?
Don't ask trump to help you 'cause he'll turn the other ear
Won't you please come out to protest or else join the other side?
(We can change the world) yes, we can change the world
(Rearrange the world) rearrange the world
(It's dying) if you believe in justice
(It's dying) and if you believe in freedom
(It's dying) let us all live our own lives
(It's dying) rules and regulations, we need them! (Ooh)
Open up the door
Somehow people must be free, I hope the day comes soon
Won't you please come out to protest? Show your face
From the bottom of the ocean to the mountains of the moon
Won't you please come out to protest? No one else can take your place
(We can change the world) yes, we can change the world
(Rearrange the world) rearrange the world
(It's dying) if you believe in justice
(It's dying) and if you believe in freedom
(It's dying) let us all live our own lives, yeah
(It's dying) rules and regulations, please heed them! (Ooh)
Open up the door
We can change the world! Rearrange the world! is the chant.
Let's go do this!

(103,269 posts)I got the keys to my new digs (for now) last week and moved most of the stuff in last Saturday. Nearly the same price for 450 more square feet of floor space... my last place in MT was 400sqft. in total, no closets or cupboards, all the appliances. It was too cramped. When I wanted to cook something for more than just me I had to use my friend's kitchen at their house. This place has a brand new gas range and new carpet, no neighbors on any of my walls, floors or ceiling and I'm upstairs.
I'm on a waiting list for the area I really want to be in and the landlord here is willing to let me out the lease when I come up on the waiting list.
Birthdays coming! Have a happy one! Mine puts me on the glide path to 70 next week!

(103,269 posts)Are so, so... it's fucking DANGEROUS! How am I supposed to watch where I'm going when I can't stop looking at all the colors! It's almost sensory overload like the first time you see the Rockies. I'll post some pics in a few days, when I can be sure I won't misplace the memory card, not quite that organized yet, only been here for two nights, tonight's my 3rd. So far it's good.
Now that that's happened, I need to find a physical therapist to deal with the damage... but I'm feeling good about the whole move so I guess it's a success, so far.
How's your son doing? Probably making gains in his flying career..? I think that's fascinating that he has the interest at his age and went for it.

(24,731 posts)My BIL and family live in Vermont. The pics of the fall colors they send me are breathtaking. I drove back to MT from war torn Portland, OR this week and even our beloved Rocky Mountains are lit up with the tamaracks turning gold. However, it aint New England, thats for sure.
The kiddo is back in Missoula and is working full time. He took a bit of a hiatus from flying this summer. He moved into an apartment which is thankfully only a half mile from me. He changed aviation companies and got a new instructor and we will see where this goes. I think this new place is a better fit for him.
Ill be watching for those fall photos.

(103,269 posts)Hopefully by the end of this week. I took a bunch more today on my journey to the protest place.
Glad your son is weighing the quality of his instruction, it matters.

This land ain't your land, this land ain't my land
It's all been bought by them corporations
They're gonna drill it, they'll log and mine it
Then sell it back to you and me
While I'm out walking beside the highway
The sky above's so dark and smoggy
That I can barely make out the mansions
Them homes won't made for you and me
Out in the fields in our dirty dungarees
We're out to pick them organic veggies
But all the brown folks been put in handcuffs
This land ain't made for you and me
I walk the city, I pound the pavement
I ask a black man for just one cigarette
And then a policeman rolled up and choked him
His voice echoes, "I can't breathe"
Now all the women is birthing babies
Because they don't own their own bodies
And their own babies can't hope for nothing
If they ain't got no pedigree
Can you hear Woody? Can you hear Jesus?
Billie Holiday or Public Enemy?
Can you hear Spanish down on Thirteenth Street?
Them songs was sung for you and me
[other verses, as needed]
Now don't despair but let's start our singing
Let's get out marching and all petition
Them folks in power to do what's right now
This land was made for you and me!

There ain't no kings here. It's only us folk
And every last one must get their one vote
Don't let them buy it, don't let them steal it
This land was made for you and me!
