To simulate a general strike. You dont need to not show up for work to impact the economy significantly to make a strong statement for change.

(59,784 posts)I'm off all of them. I think it's a good move, not only to not support the billionaires but also because social media rots your brain...
... I say as I type a message on a social media site.
But seriously. Good for you!

(59,784 posts)Way too easy to waste a lot of money on them. Never did cloud. I still do Mah jongg and Netflix. And HBO. I weaned myself off Amazon a while back. It really wasn't easy, but now I'm so glad I did it.
I wish you ease in your transition.

(30,068 posts)I really appreciate their support of things like Children's Television Workshop, documentaries and international programming along with top brass being non MAGA.

(2,895 posts)For me it's just any money going into the economy -or that stops flowing into it -regardless of what the company is or supports, can in itself be enough to shut down large parts of the economy and make a powerful statement. I can see it work almost as well as a general strike.

You dont need to not show up to work to make a point nearly as powerful as what a general strike would.

(2,895 posts)Or publicity as the marches. But I feel if everybody did it we would see results much faster.

(3,551 posts)We just dont do general strikes as well as European countries do. At least, not yet.

(2,895 posts)I mean. The Disney Plus cancellations that got Kimmel back were a microcosm of what could be accomplished if we do a massive economic boycott of whatever we dont need. We dont even need a general strike to cut off billions into the economy and force an almost immediate change.
