Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) sharply criticized the Trump administration on Thursday for seeking to provide as much as $40 billion in financing for Argentina to help the Latin American ally stabilize its turbulent financial markets.
Greene a staunch Trump ally whos bucked her party on numerous issues in recent weeks argued Argentina should not benefit from taxpayer dollars while Americans are struggling back at home. She said thats antithetical to the America First agenda.
Americans are getting decimated with high cost of living and skyrocketing insurance costs. Many of them have zero savings and some are maxing out credit cards to survive, Greene wrote in a post on the social platform X.
Tell me how its America First to bailout a foreign country with $20 [billion] or even $40 BILLION taxpayer dollars, she added.

(18,181 posts)I never thought that I would EVER agree with MT Greene.
She has, lately, been sticking it to Been A Dick Donald and his toadies, which surprises the shit out of me.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend........for now.

(2,101 posts)MTG is a morally bankrupt human being, but she also seems to be a very savvy politician. She seems very in tune with the MAGA mindset in particular, so I can't help but wonder if she is seeing things from an insider perspective that signal a shift in MAGA's approval of Trump. She is sniffing the wind and realizes it's shifting. Because I don't feel she really cares about "America First", she cares about her career.
Perhaps she is the canary in the coal mine for the GOP.

(25,713 posts)She's listening to some solid advice, and could become a formidable opponent in the future if she can recast herself as a serious person rather than a lunatic evil clown (yeah I know, let's call it a "stretch goal" if you like).

It may even help.

(5,250 posts)send billions to Argentina, and give more money to US billionaires who don't need it---
(but they count on these billionaires for campaign contributions, so
'The Big Horrible Bill' was in fact a form of money laundering--
sending more money to the uber-rich that would come back to the Republican terrorist organization!)
