(2,137 posts)But I lot of them aren't too happy about it. John Oliver did one of his devastating deep dives into attitudes about the British monarchy on a Last Week Tonight episode that aired not long after Elizabeth II's death two years ago.
You can fast forward to around the 24 minute mark for a sample of how some Australians feel about having to swear allegiance to a throne situated on the other side of the world.

I just noted the irony. Granted, i know many parts of the commonwealth have movements aiming to disassociate from the monarchy.
