Non-life threatening hit and run at one of our local No Kings

No Kings Day protester in Jackson Township injured by hit-and-run driver

https://archive.ph/3wLKi

JACKSON TWP. − What began as a peaceful No Kings protest and dance party along Fulton Drive NW nearly ended in tragedy after one participant was injured by a hit-and-run driver on Saturday afternoon.
The incident involving an unidentified driver of a white pickup truck occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Oct. 18.
Witnesses told Massillion Indpendent photographer Kevin Whitlock that the motorist seemed to deliberately drive on the grass where they were standing along Fulton Drive NW and strike the woman before fleeing. The woman, whose injuries appeared to be minor, according to witnesses, was transported from the site by township first responders

That crime is reguardless of fault, it is a crime to leave a vehicle accident where bodily injury occured or property damage over a set dollar amount

But, I was focusing on intent.
Someone intentionally running someone down then leaving the scene isn't surprising.
A crime on top of a crime, to be sure. But, not surprising.

It maybe generous but because he was an older guy we thought he might have been distracted. He drove away which really discredits the distracted argument. My husband & I were directly across the street from her. She left the scene with her arms in the air.

As opposed to finding a problem with a person who should not be driving, whether because of malice or neglect? Let's face it. Either way the person driving the truck needs to lose his license. If he successfully argues that he is fit to drive, then he needs to be criminally charged.

I clicked the link and the state was not mentioned there either.

Many states have a Canton. Nationwide protests.

I refuse to guess for a NEWS story!

Who, what, when, where and why!

Am I so old that these no longer apply?

I guess that's what happens when AI is writing your newspaper stories.

The Repository is an American daily local newspaper serving the Canton, Ohio area. It is currently owned by Gannett and is part of the USA TODAY Network. The Repository is the oldest continuously run business in Stark County, the oldest continuously published newspaper in Ohio and (as of 2015) the 11th oldest in the U.S.

The information in the wiki for the newspaper is something that is not included in the link. The word Ohio only occurs once on the article’s page and that is I. The context of a veteran Ohio national guardsmen. Canton, Ohio might be the most famous Canton in America, but certainly not the only. I generally love your posts, but it costs almost nothing to provide information without pedantry or derision.

As for my info about The Canton Repository, all I did was google the name, and that is were I found the Wiki article.

It was just basic of searching/information-gathering.

Finally, I had no intention of deriding anyone (I apoligise if it came across as such) and IMHO there was nothing 'pedantic' in my reply IMHO, as I was not engaging in any hairsplitting or arguing over obscure facts or rules.

The guardsman was not involved in the incident. He could have been from Topeka for all that mattered.

I also don't study 'small town names' so I have no idea what Massillion is.

Do you know where Zyzzyx is?

Finally, I google for additional info, not to get a basic knowledge of an article.

If I have to guess, it's not news.

If I have to look it up, the reporter is assuming.

Don't assume.

turn lane where we were lined up. And the curb was low, so a car jumping it would be easy. But it seems deliberate charging into a crowd would be easy and evil. I'm glad the orange menace hasn't asked them to.
