.
EVERYBODY came out! The ones that didn't attend drove by and honked their horns almost continuously, for over an hour, waving signs and flags from their vehicles.
No organized rally, just the community coming out to a major intersection, same spot where about 6 of us took over a corner every Saturday after Bush invaded Iraq, this time packed with hundreds of No-King protestors stretching out for almost two miles.
I'm not going to lie, I broke down and wept when I got to the packed intersection and dozens of cars were blaring their horns to the cheers of the demonstrators. Just wept uncontrollably.
I just got home and we can still hear them chanting "This is what democracy looks like!" miles away in our backyard. What a day!

(3,951 posts)we got back from our local mega standout.
So many people all honking, waving. So many of us thanking each other for being there., encouraging each other because we all have further to go. It was very powerful and moving.
Thanks for the wonderful pics. Got me crying again in a good way.

(23,680 posts)Wow, I did a double take just now - I saw a sign just like that one in my hometown this afternoon at our No Kings protest.
For a while, I thought those pictures came from my event.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
