"Thousands Demonstrate in Oklahoma City"

"Thousands in Oklahoma City join 'No Kings' protests against Trump administration"
https://www.koco.com/article/oklahoma-city-joins-no-kings-protests/69081851

I've heard many hateful or disparaging remarks about Oklahoma on DU, and have pretty much remained silent, just chalking them up to ignorance. No more! I was born in Oklahoma, but spent many years in other states and countries, and returned here with my parents years ago. I have many friends who have been here all their lives, but are very liberal. I'm about as far from conservative as anyone here on DU, and don't appreciate comments about how ignorant or racist, etc. Oklahomans are. Many of us are thoroughly disgusted with the situation in our country, as well as within our state. To make fun of, or say hateful things about Oklahomans makes no more sense than saying that all New Yorkers must be fascists, rapist, crooks, because look at Donald Dump! Generalizing about people's place of origin or residence is no different from racism. It's Ignorance, and hatefulness. Okay, sorry. Rant off.

There were many demonstrations all over Oklahoma today.

In the City!👍

My family lived there for 11 years. A wonderful, beautiful place.💕

I lived in Enid for 42 years.

I miss the thunderstorms.

Seriously, they were awesome!

I am proud to know that Oklahomans stood up for our wonderful country.. 😊

I sold Camp Fire Girl candy in Enid many years ago! We had too much competition in OKC so our leader took us to your lovely town. Sold enough candy there to go to summer camp - free!😬

I hear you about the storms! Pea green skies and curtain lightning. Man!

try being from Iowa...or Texas or anywhere that is mostly red.

Red state Dems have to work many times as hard as blue state Dems to even make a mark, but we deserve credit for continuing to try, no matter how frustrating and how many times we lose. No matter how often we get knocked down, we get up and continue to move forward.

I'm glad you're here. I know here in Iowa, we're making an effort too, are we successful? Not always, not even most of the time, but we still do it.

It's true, that yeah, it's a generalization of a State. But red, or purple I know Dems are out there. Have a Liberal Texan friend, a liberal Floridian acquaintance.

It's true, too, you have to work much harder for change.
