https://www.nbcsandiego.com/news/local/sdfd-fire-engine-stolen-driven-fallbrook/3917782/The engine was taken at around 4:30 p.m. near 16th Street and Palm Avenue and found just after 5:10 p.m. more than 60 miles away, all the way in Fallbrook.
Authorities say that there were no injuries connected to the theft, and that a suspect is now in custody.
SDFD told NBC 7 that the California Highway Patrol is investigating what led up to the theft.
That is all.
I can just imagine the beating that the suspect is undergoing in order to divulge how much George Soros paid for the stunt. (JK)
Here are possible routes for the joyride.
All are south of Camp Pendleton.

(26,589 posts)No matter what speed, what driver is going to call 911 on a speeding fire engine? You can be asked to take a drug test if you do.
So. Finds slide rule. 60 miles is 1 hour at 60 mph. 40 minutes is 2/3 hour so speed needs to be 3/2*60, or 90 mph. Still damn fast. I dunno what they're rated for. Clear sailing.
Whut you think?

(10,314 posts)I agree with who's gonna report a speeding fire truck but above 60 mph for any length of time doesn't pass the smell test for me.

(15,593 posts)Live a couple blocks from the 15/805 split, heard a fire engine going north on the 805 about 4:40 pm.
Bet they were having fun. Going north on the 805 to 15 is the straightest shot if you wanted to go that way.
I suspect the only reason it was abandoned in Fallbrook was low fuel.
