(12,730 posts)Steph Miller is a Nazi. A very pale, balding, skinny and very creepy Nazi. But then almost all Nazis have a creepy vibe. But Steph Miller gives it a recently rose from the grave and need to suck some blood creepy vibe.

(61,038 posts)Miller has pushed authoritarian and Fascist policies. Using the word Nazi refers to a very specific, very toxic specific incidence of fascism.
This gives people like Miller the ability to reject the claim as he does not agree with all aspects of Nazism.

(6,994 posts)I agree that the less specific "fascist" is preferable.

(61,038 posts)are informed by the Israeli reaction to the use of apartheid to describe an Israel which would annex the West Bank without giving citizenship to Palestinians.
Their object is that there are differences between what existed in SA and Israel. The problem is fights in comments devolve into discussion of those differences and semantics and Zionism rather than the current or future reality. It may be more productive to avoid that word while making essentially the same observation.
Here, until recently, it was not acceptable to call anyone a Nazi or compare anyone to Hitler. Now, even as the Young Republicans had positive comments on Nazism, it is still seen as a slur.
On the other hand, condemning authoritarian and Fascist ACTIONS and calling them that while making clear how this is NOT consistent with a representative democracy may work better.

(114,280 posts)has used the term NAZI as well with re to his nephew. He has "progressed" in his terminology from "racist" to "fascist", to "hate-monger," to Nazi.
Not all of this is in the interview that is widely available online from 2018, but from informal follow-ups, I've read.
So, I think if any Jewish person can determine what fits this monster, it is his own uncle, who likewise knows the truth of the past and now.

(114,280 posts)and others who oppose the Trump agenda. Add to that his clear white nationalism, and I think there is reason to suggest there is not a hell of a lot of difference between what he believes and promotes and the entrenched policies of the Nazis. Do you really question whether immigrants are dying from torture in these detention camps, like Alligator Alcatraz? We know at least a thousand are unaccounted for, we know torture has occurred to some extent, and we know Miller and his ilk do not look upon these people as HUMAN. Sound familiar? It should, if, as I have done over my adulthood, you have read enough or seen enough documentaries on Hitler, the Third Reich, and WWII. If a significant number of immigrant deaths are confirmed and shown to be a direct result of Miller-driven policy, how many deaths does it take to allow the comparison?

(61,038 posts)In his case, I think you make an excellent case for saying he is acting like a Nazi.
I was looking at RW comments and they were very quick to say we were calling all Republicans (or all MAGA) Nazis. I was trying to figure out how we could avoid giving them anything to make that seem true - as I don't think any elected Democrat has said or inferred that.
