that was handled beautifully by our Bernalillo County Sheriffs department and the Indivisible Safety Teams. No one was injured or even into contact. Somewhat difficult to describe but I'll give it a try.
I was at a place about halfway along the main row of protesters ( my guess about 400 total - both sides of the road covered ). The road is the Old Route 66 and divided into 3 lanes here with the middle lane being a turn lane.
All of a sudden a Black Cab Pickup truck slammed on their breaks right in front us. 3 occupants all with their middle fingers out. Also suddenly a Sheriffs SUV pulled up in the center lane just before the Pickup and the officer dismounted quickly. At about the same time the Cab occupant exited and was racing towards people back up the road where they had just passed. The officer screamed something and the occupant hurried ran back and jumped back into the truck.
At that time I looked back at the crowd on my left and they were partially jumping into the street and heading towards us. One protester pushed his clothed butt and pointed to the it and then the truck. The Indivisible people quickly got the crowd back up onto the curb.
The officer quickly was flagging the truck to move on and of course they did. He then kept then kept traffic flowing. The local folks cheered him on and clapped.
I guess that he was in his car a little further down the road and watching everything and it must have been getting hot back up the road ( I was not observing them at the time) and he responded real quickly because he was right in front of us in just a second before the truck stopped.
Very Professional by all involved-- Thanks Indvisible and BCSO
