...dismissed this with "how could such small bits of shrapnel hurt anyone," without recognizing that

a. It was sheer luck that the premature detonation wasn't far, far worse.

b. Shrapnel -- even very small shrapnel --does a lot of damage. Buckshot is pretty small too, but think about the damage it does.

I'm guessing there are some MAGA folk who know from experience how dangerous this was, but in true MAGA style, they are probably keeping their mouths shut.
