Doesn't use the first lady's office, doesn't mean that any FLOTUS in the future won't. This is a strike against women and their place in the WH.

Edit to add: This is his "Let them eat cake" moment. A gigantic new folly on the taxpayers dime while people die from lack of medical care, farmers go broke and the nation suffers.

…if this is some sort of perverse revenge for No Kings Day. People must have known about this for some time. The architectural overseers in DC have historically been extremely strict about changes to facades, let alone entire structures. There is no way they would approve this abomination. Also, the Metro runs close to the White House. I wonder if this has been taken into consideration, along with potential disruption to underground utilities. It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump said ‘I don’t care - rip it out!’.

Can you imagine the horror of business people and tourists as they watch this desecration by Trump of a part of our history. By the time he exits the White House it will have been so defiled it may have to be torn down and rebuilt.
