Are you on UHC drug plan, or a separate one?

Shingrix is covered as a pharmacy benefit, not a A/B benefit.

Some vaccinations are covered under part B, some are covered under part D. The part D ones you (generally) have to go to a pharmacy to get (no prior authorization). The part B ones you can get at the doctor's office - I don't recall whether you can ALSO get them at the pharmacy or not.

Here is the breakdown: https://www.uhc.com/news-articles/medicare-articles/which-vaccines-does-medicare-cover

Its not as simple a question as you might think. (Same thing with diabetes supplies - which are covered 100% under the DME portion of Medicare (part of part B - even though you get them at the pharmacy, but only partially covered under part D); same things as glasses - which are covered if you need a prescription change because of cataract surgery, but only certain providers are allowed to provide them, and of those, only a few a re 100% paid - and finding out which ones are covered is a nightmare).

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
