Oh this is rich: Pressure for Curtis Sliwa to ditch NYC mayoral race reaches fever pitch as his boss,
GOP bigwig Catsimatidis calls on him to drop out
Some background: Republicans chose Curtis Sliwa to run for NYC mayor, twice. And he lost once, and is on the fast track of losing again as he's running at 13% against Zohran Mamdani and Andrew Cuomo. It's gotten to the point where business Republicans are losing their minds: they're focused on anyone-but-Mamdani.
So instead of campaigning and raising money for Sliwa, they're now attacking him. (Hey! That's the Democrats' job!)
And it's now so ridiculous that Sliwa's employer is demanding that Sliwa drop out of the race and he's enlisted Sid Rosenberg (both of whom have lauded Curtis up until now). On Sid's show this morning and on "Cats'" show this afternoon, both were apoplectic about getting Sliwa out of the race before it's too late.
Reading between the lines, one can't help but wonder if Sliwa will have a job at WABC when he loses (again). After all, his boss promised that he'd close all his businesses and move out of the City if Mamdani wins. People remember.
What Cats and Sid and Friends are overlooking: Sliwa is a bonehead and stubborn to boot. Nobody tells him what to do. Even Sliwa's BFF, Giuliani (who recently endorsed him) could beg him to drop out of the race and he wouldn't budge. So delusional that he believes he has a chance in Hell to win two weeks from the election.
