Sky high payrolls while other teams are expected to compete on a fraction of the payroll. Cleveland fan here haven't won since 1948 despite numerous playoff appearances

24. You might think of it this way:
Mon Oct 20, 2025, 09:27 PM
Oct 2025

The New York Mets had a gross income of $444 million for 2024 and spent $400 million on 2025 payroll -- 90 percent, the highest in baseball

The Miami Marlins had a gross income of $317 million for 2024 and spent $86 mollion on 2025 payroll -- 27 percent, the lowest in baseball.

It isn't only that some clubs have more to spend than others, but that some spend the least they can on personnel, or simply underpay them so the owners can make more.

A little old place with 10 rooms. Used to take the monorail to work if I didn't ride my bike.

That was back in the day and it's still there - low income housing now, I think.

I'm a Mariner's fan, but it's OK if the Blue Jays win, because I'm also a big Canada fan. I'd just like to see our team win - it's been a roller coaster.

LA is gonna turn the world series this year into the second Massacre at Cannae, no matter who they play

Don't get me wrong, I'll watch. I love playoff baseball, and I love watching worthy playoff pitchers, do what they do.

Don't care who wins. Hoping they beat dodgers, need new team to win.

But Dodgers with 4-0 and lots of rest time will be hard to beat.

25. so is it the Blue Jays against the Dodgers for this World Series ???
Mon Oct 20, 2025, 09:29 PM
Oct 2025

Assuming that is the meaning of this post, I sympathize with your sentiment---

but since the star player of the Dodgers, a star pitcher who also hit three home-runs in a playoff game,
is actually a Japanese citizen rather than an American....
should he hire private security to protect him from ICE ???

(Yeah, I presume he is legally justified to be playing baseball in this country---
but since when has 'legally' mattered to the Nazi-Gestapo Trump administration??)

Surely the Canadian baseball fans have ample justification to hope for victory in this year's WS,
but if the Dodger's eventually triumph due to the skills of their Japanese star player.....
I don't think I will be unhappy whichever way the series goes

(if I am blessed enough to actually VIEW any of it!---
Will any broadcast network show it this year??)

((That Dodger's Japanese pitcher and homerun slugger is something else!!!! ))

And the white supremacist fans hate it.

Miami may have a larger percentage of Latino fans, since much of its population is Cuban and Cuba is baseball-mad. But then, the Fish have about 22 fans because the owners won't spend their money on0 quality players.

because of one player, especially over an entire season and playoff series. Everyone on the field, and even in the dugout, contributes something.

This is probably the most important thing for fans to know about the game.
